Esteem Helps Knowsley Council Reduce IT Costs by £500,000
Esteem Systems has helped Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council lower its IT costs by £500,000 by redesigning its existing Oracle infrastructure and virtualising its Solaris operating system and applications.
“In light of current public sector spending cuts, Knowsley decided to take a proactive approach to managing budgets. The Council’s existing Oracle infrastructure, which runs applications such as council tax, housing benefits, social services, and education; was already very efficient, but we knew further savings could be achieved by redesigning and virtualising it”, says Alastair Kitching, Chief Operating Officer of Esteem Systems.
Savings will be realised over a period of five years and once installed, Esteem Systems will also provide a managed service for Knowsley for its Solaris operating system and Oracle databases until 2016.
Cllr Norman Keats, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance and Information Technology said: “In the wake of the government’s funding cuts, it is more important than ever that we are able to provide high quality, efficient and reliable services, while at the same time reducing our costs. We awarded the contract to redesign our corporate server infrastructure to Esteem Systems following a competitive selection process. Esteem Systems demonstrated that they could deliver a good quality infrastructure and value for money.”
