YO! Sushi Management Buy-out backed by Primary
Primary has backed the £10 million management buy-out of YO! Sushi, the 14-strong group of Japanese conveyor-belt restaurants founded by Simon Woodroffe in 1997. Primary's investment includes development capital funding for restaurant investment and roll-out. Simon Woodroffe will continue to retain a stake in the business and will remain involved as a non-executive director.
YO! Sushi is an innovative Japanese conveyor-belt restaurant chain. The format represents a Japanese sushi bar adapted for the West and offers a quality, fast and fun dining experience where customers pick and choose their food from a conveyor-belt in front of them. Following the launch of the 'flagship' restaurant in Soho in 1997, the business has expanded into concession units in sites such as Harvey Nichols, Selfridges (London, Manchester and now Birmingham) and major railway stations, as well as a number of retail/leisure developments such as the London Trocadero, Whiteleys and the 02 Centre.
